Mr. Preston, 28, works in New York at New Visions for Public Schools, an organization dedicated to improving education, as a program officer specializing in helping teachers use technology more effectively.
Mr. Hughes, 50, is the president of New Visions for Public Schools, a nonprofit organization in New York that seeks to improve the city's public schools.

JUDITH A. RIZZO, deputy chancellor for instruction in the New York City school system, has been offered the presidency of New Visions for Public Schools, a nonprofit agency that has helped to start small experimental schools.
"I'm overwhelmed," said Ms. Donovan, who moved to the Boston area several years ago after working with New Visions for Public Schools, a nonprofit group that helps train teachers in New York City.
Among the recipients that Christy Turlington, Hilary Swank, Sofia Coppola, Julianne Moore and others chose to receive Mr. Jacobs's largesse were Planned Parenthood (Ms. Moore); the Hetrick Martin Institute, a New York City organization for gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender youths (Ms. Swank); and the New Visions for Public Schools (Ms. Coppola).
