The albedo-induced decrease of temperature following deforestation can be locally offset by the warming effect due to a decrease of latent heat flux, with a resulting net warming effect of the surface, along with a decrease of precipitation (Spracklen and Garcia-Carreras 2015, Lawrence and Vandecar 2015).
