Three classes of Nodal-secreting effector cells are distinguished: (i) the receiving cell itself (if already secreting Nodal); (ii) near-neighbour cells (those directly abutting the receiving cell in the epithelial layer), and (iii) local neighbour cells (those within some proximity, excluding near-neighbours).
The chemical signals detected by one cell may be different from the signals detected by its neighbour cells.
Self-organising networks (SON) allow the automatic detection and configuration of neighbour cells by Automatic Neighbour Relation (ANR) algorithms.
We have simply replaced cells by peaks, densest neighbour cells with key neighbours and the peak patch label by the final peak label.
In dense deployments, we typically see that ANR detects around 40 to 50 (or more) intra-frequency neighbour cells per serving cell.
Furthermore, ANR provides the basis for self-configuration and self-optimisation of the PCI allocation to cells, i.e. PCI allocation (for new or already existing cells) can be adapted to the PCIs of the neighbour cells and to the PCIs of the neighbours of the neighbour cells.

We therefore looked closer at the rate of cell shape change in neighbouring pairs of cells of different relative myosin phase, classifying neighbour cell pairs as positively correlated (myosin phase correlation, rm>0.33), uncorrelated (−0.33≥ rm≥0.33) or anti-correlated (rm<−0.333) (Fig. 1 i).
Not only that, with handover we are only able to use the capacity of just one neighbour cell, instead of the sum of the available capacity in all the neighbouring cells.
John Burnside from The Good Neighbour cell by cell, a heartbeat at a time, my one good neighbour sets himself aside, and alters into someone I have known: a passing stranger on the road to grief, husband and father; rich man; poor man; thief David Harsent from Sniper I am tucked up here with plenty left in store.
We propose an extension of the original Frink's approach based on a cell-to-vertex interpolation to compute vertex values with neighbour cell values.
Handover measurements in mobile communications systems, i.e. measurements that are performed by UEs on neighbouring cells while they are connected to a serving cell, are typically related to the so-called Physical Cell ID (PCI) of a neighbour cell.
