In our original validation study we did find that some lighter shades of purple were positive but 'Purple 17' was consistently found to be a negative shade [ 3].
Of the 34 individuals who chose a positive color at 9.00 am, 24 remained positive, 9 changed to neutral and only 1 converted to a negative shade.
Our results demonstrated that by asking an individual to relate their mood to a color, the choice of a negative shade was linked to depression and, to a lesser extent, anxiety.

Using this instrument we have been able to classify colors into positive, neutral and negative shades and this study aimed to assess their predictive role in hypnotherapy.
