Many attempts have been made to restore semi-natural temperate grasslands that suffered substantial declines due to changes in land use in the past decades.
The four forb species and four grass species, including both small-statured and tall-statured species, are typical representatives of Central European semi-natural temperate grasslands (Molinio-Arrhenatheretea; Ellenberg 1988) (Table 1).
We have considered the factors associated with the evolution of multiple paternity in a group of social wasps sharing similar annual life histories, colony founding strategies, natural enemies, temperate and subtropical distributions, foraging behaviors, and food sources [ 18, 19, 63, 64].
Their productivity is important to regional economies, and their associated ecosystem, compositional, and structural characteristics are simultaneously a foundation for much of the natural world in temperate climates and of great importance to human society.

Soil C stock is lower in plantations in tropics [e.g., [9], [16], [17]], but higher than that in natural forests in temperate regions [e.g., [15], [18], [19]].
Therefore, under their natural environments, Drosophila temperate species (such as species of the virilis group) should show, anyway, longer meiosis duration times than tropical species (such as D. melanogaster African populations).
Consequently, humans invade the rodents' natural habitat, the temperate rain forest and its residues.
