We describe an environmental and natural science program called Nurture thru Nature (NtN) that seeks to improve mathematics and science performance of students in disadvantaged communities, and to increase student interest in Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) careers.
"It's disappointing," said Katherine Nadeau, the water and natural resources program director for Environmental Advocates of New York.
It focuses on a group of 12-year-old prodigies who join a high school's Accelerated Natural Talents program.

Joel Godfrey, the Army's natural resources program manager here, said the extent of the damage still had to be assessed in consultations with the United States Fish and Wildlife Service.
"We'll create a darkened room with a CD of night sounds," said Patricia Hulse, the museum's natural science program developer.
"The communities targeted for drilling need the power to determine for themselves when, where and if fracking is permitted," Katherine Nadeau, the water and natural resources program director for Environmental Advocates of New York, said in a statement.
"The land is deeply connected to the spiritual life of the people," said Chum Narin, the land and natural resources program head at the Community Legal Education Center, a nonprofit group in Phnom Penh.
