Could you loosen my stays?
As I recall my stays here, the Brevoort is the one hotel in town where it is really difficult to find a bathtub".
This paid off in frequent invitations and relationships that were more often than not strengthened by my stays (although once in a while a frayed friendship would give way entirely under the burden of shared quarters).
I then booked most of my stays through one of several hotel discount services on the Internet: www.travelscape.com (Travelscape.com); www.hoteldiscounts.com (a service of Hotel Reservations Network), or www.hotres.com (HotRes.com).
(I did not, by the way, mention my affiliation with The New York Times in my Airbnb user profile, and it didn't come up in conversation during my stays. I did let my hosts all know about my plan to write this column after I checked out).
I have never packed a flimsy negligee, high heels and a broken torch for my stays here and so have been unable to "just go outside and check on that funny noise" and therefore I have not been murdered even slightly.
