His music, if you can stay the course, can be quite charming, as his titles often indicate ("Lagniappe," "Canonical Form," and "My Complements to Roger"), though in an astringent, Campari-and-soda way.
Milton Babbitt's 1978 piece "My Complements to Roger" — playfully, not "Compliments" — was dedicated to Babbitt's teacher Roger Sessions and was played by Mr. Kuderna with an emphasis on the elusive lyrical connections between its broken little phrases.
