"my academic path" is correct and usable in written English. It can be used to refer to the educational path a person has taken, or will take, throughout their academic career. For example, "Planning my academic path was difficult, but I'm excited for the journey ahead!".
Within the past few weeks, I've received two letters that could, ostensibly, forever alter my academic path — or, at the very least, determine whether I'll be battling heat waves or hurricanes during the next four-odd years of my life.
