Large mutations, which include alterations to chromosome structure and number, are relatively rare because most cause such major disruptions to development that the fetus is naturally aborted.
These studies have also identified several frequently co-occurring mutations, which include NPM1, FLT3, IDH1/2, and less commonly, TET2 (Hou et al., 2012; Ley et al., 2010; Lin et al., 2011; Marcucci et al., 2012; Renneville et al., 2012; Thol et al., 2011a; Yan et al., 2011).
