We reported earlier that KRAS or BRAF mutations were quite common in low-grade serous ovarian carcinomas but rare in conventional high-grade serous carcinomas (Nakayama et al, 2006).
In our series, K-RAS mutations were quite absent (only one patient presented an oncogenic mutation in this gene) confirming data from literature, indicating that mutations in K-RAS are rare and likely not a key event in hepatocarcinogenesis. On the other hand, a higher-than-expected prevalence of somatic mutations was observed for the BRAF gene (15/65; 23%).
Finally, the structural and functional consequences of mutations are quite variable among the different agents.
These mutations are quite rare by themselves, but together they're found in almost 20percentt of ovarian cancer patients.
This is true although the mutations are quite remote from the active site, and there are no significant changes in crystallographic structure between the wild-type and mutant active sites.

SETD2 mutations are quite common in ccRCC (7.4%–11.6%), pediatric high-grade glioma (HGG; 15%), and adult HGG (8%) (Cancer Genome Atlas Research Network, 2013; Dalgliesh et al., 2010; Duns et al., 2010; Fontebasso et al., 2013; Hakimi et al., 2013b; Varela et al., 2011).
Each of her mutations is quite rare.
The finding of a BRAF mutation in PDAC is somehow expected since its related pathway is altered in almost all the pancreatic adenocarcinomas [34], although individual BRAF mutations are quite infrequent in this type of cancer and generally occur in tumours that lack KRAS mutations [35], [36].
