These point mutations have the strongest association with FA-induced nasal tumours in rats, suggesting that FA is not carcinogenic through a point mutation mode-of-action and that the observed mutations occur after key events like formation of DPX, cytotoxicity, cell proliferation, and pre-neoplastic lesions (Meng et al. 2010).
