We compare four classes of systems: pure serial lines, pure parallel lines, short serial lines arranged in parallel, and short serial lines arranged in parallel with the ability to move products between the lines (i.e., with crossover).

We initially tested whether rsl4 mutant lines disrupt the low P root hair elongation response.
These isogenic WT and mutant lines were differentiated to D30_L using our established strategy (Fig. 1a).
