Mutagen contains mutagenicity categories ("mutagen" or "nonmutagen") for 4335 compounds from Kazius et al.[17].[17]
Several studies have shown that the MN test and comet assay (CA) are the two sensitive, rapid, and extensively used methods in the detection of mutagenicity and genotoxicity of chemicals and xenobiotics under field and laboratory conditions ([Jha 2004, Pandey et al. 2006, Nagpure et al. 2008, Ventura et al. 2008, Ali et al. 2009, Kumar et al. 2010, Nwani et al. 2010]).
It appears that the most sensitive genetic endpoints for detection of FA mutagenicity are chromosomal aberrations and MN (Speit and Schmid 2006).
The mutagenicity of the samples were below the detection limit of the mutagenicity assay.
Thus, enhancing their mutagenicity when compared with the pro-mutagen parent species.
This suggests that other mutagenic degradation products, not measured in this study or below the detection limit of our analytical method, may have contributed to the enhanced direct-acting mutagenicity of the Beijing PM after exposure to OH radicals.
