Although located in this muscle cluster, the expression profiles of heart tissue is slightly different than those of the other muscle tissues.
As an example, the smooth muscle cluster contains 4 validated serum response factor (SRF) targets (Acta2, Actg2, Myl11, Tagln) [ 5].
Of particular interest were clusters 1, 6, 7, 9, and 10, which represented genes over-expressed only in EOs (cluster 9), genes over-expressed in skeletal and heart muscle (cluster 1), genes over-expressed in both skeletal muscle and EO (cluster 6), genes over-expressed in skeletal muscle, heart and EO (cluster 7), and genes over-expressed in brain, spinal cord and EO (cluster 10).

In contrast, acutely deteriorating muscle clusters were absent, and intact dystrophin+ sarcolemma was typical in young muscles, thus suggesting better tissue maintenance during immobility (Fig S1 of Supporting Information).
