The setting of initiatives varied from GP practices (category 1 and 3), hospitals (category 4), home care organisations (categories 1, 5 and 6), social care organisations (category 2), volunteer organisations (category 7) and municipalities (category 8).
Controls were randomly selected using age, sex and region quotas from a sample of 30 000 phone numbers representative of the French population with respect to area of residence and municipality size categories.
In the univariable analysis (Table 2), only age group was significantly associated with seropositivity (p<0.01); results were not significant for sex (p = 0.97), residence (northern/middle/southern Germany, p = 0.29; west/east, p = 0.43), or population of municipality (4 categories; p = 0.10).
Local administrative entities exceeding 250,000 inhabitants contributed 83.3% of the total pacts (in other words, 10 municipalities out of 12 of the same class), while small-sized towns did not exceed 1.9% of the total number of Italian municipalities in this category (112 municipalities out of 5739).
The new officers -- financed with $16.5 million in federal funds spread over a six-year period -- have largely contributed to the decline in the number of auto thefts in a city that once had the dubious honor of leading all municipalities in that category.
Regarding location variables two sets of results are presented: controlling for municipality size (seven categories) or by postal code.
Data on Italy's population were obtained from the 2001 census, which includes information on age structure, household size, household composition (e.g., single individuals or couples with or without children), school attendance, employment categories, municipality of residence, and data on the population that commutes daily within national borders (see Text S1) [21].
The number of BHUs per municipality in each adequacy category was estimated.
Four background factors were included in the regression models: year of birth (five categories), mother's age at the son's birth (five categories), birth order (five categories) and type of municipality at participant age 16 years (seven categories).
The lowest prevalence of frequent organic consumption was in the middle-category municipalities (8.0% and 8.4% in less or quite central municipalities respectively) (data not shown in table).
