Comprehensive serum profiling of cytokines followed by multivariate modeling, similar to that performed in this study of murine colitis, may identify a panel of disease-associated predictive biomarkers, particularly in individuals identified by genetic screening as having an increased risk for IBD.
Our results showed a 21% increased hazard for each 1% (11 mmol/mol) increase in baseline HbA1c in multivariate models, similar to that which might be expected based on results from previous studies.
Compared with the crude model, the multivariate model produced similar risk estimates.
We then fit a multivariate model with similar covariates as used in the base Cox model to compare adjusted rates of use.
This resulted in an identical multivariate model with similar odds ratios, indicating that our results were not influenced by the exclusion of operated patients.
