This observation could imply that intrinsic apoptosis is regulated in a gene-expression independent manner or that genetic differences are obscured by the fact that multiple subgroups exist within the high- or low-apoptotic tumors.
Of course, each separate meta-analysis done increases the chance of type one errors, similar to performing multiple subgroup analyses within a meta-analysis.
