This could be achieved using a different virus-mediated gene delivery system, multiple site injections, continuous infusion of larger volume using a cannula, and cell type-specific promoters.
Local subcutaneous injection of amifostine was associated with mild local pain, while extensive local erythema, necessitating the changing of multiple sited injections and local application of steroid cream, was experienced in one out of 25 patients (4%).

Forty four patients, suffering from chronic migraine with medication overuse, mean age 51.1+7.9, have been submitted to a withdrawal from medications in a day hospital setting, successively they have been treated by BoNT A injection in multiple sites according to the protocol of the PREEMPT study at the dosage of 155 U for 31 sites.
