When I saw a rough cut of the film at the Rubin Museum in New York recently, I thought it tried to cover a lot of ground; it featured younger residents with multiple sclerosis or psychiatric diagnoses, as well as older people with dementia.
Websites usually contain introductory information about a disease, but patients often have multiple medical and psychiatric diagnoses, long-standing illness, take numerous medications, and are looking for answers about their personal situation (Conell et al. 2016; Miller 2007).
We focused on people living with multiple sclerosis (MS) and psychiatric diagnoses (disease specific details are given in Table 1).
The SEIQoL-DW has been used with a variety of adult and geriatric medical populations including patients with HIV/AIDS [ 12], cancer [ 13], amyotrophic lateral sclerosis [ 14], psychiatric diagnoses [ 15], multiple sclerosis [ 16], motor neuron disease [ 17], Hodgkins lymphoma [ 18], and stem cell recipients [ 19].
The resulting questionnaire contained open-ended and multiple choice questions about stimulant treatment, psychiatric diagnoses, co-medication and several types of non-pharmacological psychosocial interventions focused at the child and/or the parents.
To evaluate these selected polymorphisms, we recruited 407 patients diagnosed with schizophrenia by multiple psychiatric doctors according to DSM-IV TR criteria and 384 normal controls without any medical record in psychiatry.
Heterogeneity in psychiatric neuroimaging originates from multiple differences across studies: in conceptual issues underlying psychiatric diagnoses and psychopathology [ 2, 3], the inclusion criteria for and the clinical characteristics of psychiatric samples [ 4]; the use of different paradigms and designs [ 4], and the use of different forms of image acquisition and image analysis [ 5].
Are psychiatric diagnoses capricious?
