Furthermore, multiple other ePA strains have since been described in Australia, Europe and North America [ 2, 3, 6– 9].
While our attempts to isolate the plasmid in culture have been unsuccessful possibly due to the low copy number and the large size of the plasmid, we have since identified homologous plasmids in multiple other P. acnes strains that belong to the same lineage as HL096PA1 based on genome sequencing [ 12].
Although NCU02794, known variously as ham-2 or so (Table 2), has multiple nonsynonymous SNPs in other strains, further examination of the vegetative of morphology of FGSC 3246 indicates that is has a "soft" like phenotype.
