The inventory of homes for sale has swelled at an unusual pace around the state this spring, as sellers who had waited out last year's miserable conditions burst forth -- or were forced -- to list their houses, according to analysts looking at multiple-listing statistics and brokers listening to their clients.
The average length of time on the market was 208 days, 59 more than a year earlier, according to the statistics from the Greater Hudson Valley Multiple Listing Service that Ms. Dorn cited.
Other brokers said that their statistics, typically culled from multiple listing services, were less dire and more accurate than the Warren Group's, which come from deeds filed in town halls.
