Although falls can be caused by multiple factors, mobility impairments such as gait and balance disorders are among the most common predisposing conditions [ 4, 5].
To actuate platooning in a safe way it is necessary to design controllers able to effectively operate on informations exchanged via Inter-Vehicular Communication (IVC) systems despite the presence of unavoidable communication impairments, such as multiple time-varying delays that affect communication links.
The challenges for social models of disability for justice may seem greatest for intellectual and psychiatric impairments, as well as for complex physical impairments such as fibromyalgia, multiple chemical sensitivity, and other conditions that radically and unpredictably affect energy, stamina, and functioning (Wendell 1989, 1996; Davis 2005).
In addition, large population-based studies examining the association between certain age-related impairments such as frailty, disability, use of multiple medications or multimorbidity and gait parameters are lacking.
This level of generalization suggests that the multiple reward compliance protocol may extend to populations with significant cognitive impairments, such as children with developmental disabilities who are at increased risk of hypoxia when sedation approaches are used [ 32].
People with complex and multiple impairments are also often left out, because their involvement is seen as too expensive or difficult.
Other individual impairments did not account for any significant trends in multiple impairments.
The patterns of impairments, which disproportionately affect older adults, and multiple impairments over time are not well known.
For impairments, there was a trend towards increasing multiple impairments among women, but not men (Table 3).
Although the overall prevalence of multiple impairments did not increase over time, we observed that the prevalence of multiple impairments remained high particularly among the oldest old group.
