First, ideally we would have studied a representative sample of all individuals in the US prescribed opioids rather than those in Medicare and been able to separately estimate the prevalence of multiple provider prescribing across Medicare and non-Medicare populations as well as the possibly distinct effects of multiple provider prescribing on patient outcomes such as opioid related admissions.
