A further limitation of the present study is the lack of a correction for multiple comparisons during product-moment correlations between alexithymia and N400 amplitudes in response to affective words, music, and prosody.
A Bonferroni correction was applied to account for multiple comparisons during the assessment of walking (n = 6), muscle strength (n = 8) and stiffness (n = 4 per muscle).
Accordingly, word and symbol processing differed (p < 0.01, to adjust for multiple comparisons) during two separate time windows, from 160 244 ms and from 324 512 ms, largely overlapping with the Global Field Power GFPP [ 27]) peaks of the N170 and P300 ERP components (Fig. 2).
To conduct a formal test of interaction among the variables in a model resulting from an exhaustive search by MDR or MDR-PDT, the multiple comparisons performed during the search must be accounted for when determining the critical value of the test statistic for significance.
This stricter criterion was applied due to the multiple comparisons made during the forward addition covariate modeling procedure.
The Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons was applied during validation set analysis, and the alpha value for each comparison is 0.05/ n, where n is the total number of comparisons.
As shown in Table 3, after Bonferroni adjustment for multiple comparisons, patients admitted during CRTs operating office hours were significantly less likely to live alone and had lower scores on all HoNOS total scales.
Significant changes (P < 0.05, following correction for multiple comparisons) in concentration during lactation were noted for IL-1α, IL-2, IL-3, IL-5, IL-9, IL-10, IL-12 (p40), IL-12 (p70), IL-17, IFN-γ, G-CSF, GM-CSF, KC, MCP-1, MIP-1α, MIP-1β, RANTES, P4 and PRL (Table 1 and Additional file 1).
Encoding-related activity between 700 and 800 ms was significantly more replayed during ripple events vs. peri-ripple periods for subsequently remembered remote items (p = 0.041, cluster-corrected for multiple comparisons; Supplementary Fig. 8b) during nREM sleep.
The significant level was corrected during multiple comparisons by the Bonferroni correction, and a p value <0.05/number of comparisons was considered statistically significant.
In the post-hoc comparisons using Fisher's PLSD multiple comparisons for the results during the conditioning phase at 2, 5, and 6 min time point were significant [Fig. 1A, (*a) p = 0.0187, (*b) p = 0.0454, (*c) p = 0.0367].
