Eight patients were referred for TIPS, seven because of multiple recurrent bleeding episodes from esophageal varices (n = 5), gastric fundus varices (n = 1), or both (n = 1) that could not be managed by endoscopic therapy.
Use of POP can cause a variety of bleeding patterns including amenorrhoea, infrequent bleeding, frequent bleeding and prolonged bleeding episodes.
