The operating room (OR) is an important venue where surgeons do much of medical student teaching and yet there has been little work evaluating variables that influence learning in this unique environment.
As part of her evaluation, the OE tracked the extent to which individual aspects of CREATE were introduced, taught, and reinforced in each workshop, the degree to which the PIs modeled student-centered teaching, how much "student" (faculty participant) participation ensued, the nature of classroom discussions, and the degree to which faculty participants seemed to be learning the CREATE strategy.
