The low sensitivities of the Scripps and NCGC IC50 models are not a result of the percentage of toxic compounds in the data set since the Scripps IC50 set contained 37% toxic compounds while the hit rate of the NCGC set was much lower at 4.6%.
The effectual dose of drugs, mostly different antimonials, is not much lower than the toxic one.
Unfortunately, many drugs have a very narrow therapeutic window, meaning that the therapeutic concentration is not much lower than the toxic one.
This nanomolar dosage is much lower than the toxic doses that have been reported in poisoning cases [ 60] and in experimental evaluations of LD50 [ 14].
It's true that in the United States, environmental lead levels are much lower than before the toxic metal was removed from gasoline, food cans, and other products in the 1970s and early 1980s.
On the other hand, heavy metals such as Pb, Hg, Cd, and As are toxic at much lower levels.
By comparing the upper and lower panels in Fig. 5 it can be seen that detergents became acutely toxic at much lower concentrations than the concentrations needed for significant protection.
But PMA is toxic at a much lower dose than MDMA.
The test results indicated that the leaching of toxic elements was much lower than the contamination level.
If these compounds would be produced in situ, the concentrations would remain much lower due to simultaneous consumption, therefore toxic effects would be less profound.
