Much less genome context was available for cooS genes grouping within clade B, as there are no representative cooS genes of this clade in public databases of sequenced microbial genomes; however, two cooS genes and numerous short cooS gene fragments from the Nasutitermes sp. metagenome are associated with clade B (Fig. 7).
Due to their small size (<500 bp), however, MITEs occupy much less of the genome than LTR-retrotransposons.
In general, exhaustively searching genomic space for knockout candidates is computationally intractable even on small-scale metabolic models (less than 100 reactions), much less on current genome-scale metabolic models (greater than 1000 reactions) due to prohibitive computation time.
Given that the number of genes varies much less than overall genome size (e.g. only 5-fold between yeast and humans) scientific focus has been on the intergenic DNA that makes up the bulk of most eukaryotic genomes.

At least some individual genes have demonstrated differential methylation frequencies in grade IV pGBM and sGBM samples [ 16] and although much progress has been made in assessing genome-wide methylation of pGBM tumors, much less is known about genome-wide methylation in early grade tumors and their subsequent higher grade sGBM manifestations.
