MPT was used because it is a very effective antimyeloma regimen, with a neutral or negative effect on bone formation.
The enhancement was, surprisingly, caused by the triple combination of glucose, low calcium and high phosphate concentrations and was iron dependent, as it was completely inhibited in the presence of iron chelators and appeared to be mediated by MPT (inhibition by the MPT inhibitor combination tfp/fructose; Figure 6).
It has been suggested that HKII plays a regulatory role in MPT, possibly through its binding to voltage-dependent anion channel (VDAC) on the mitochondrial outer membrane (Halestrap et al, 2002; Mathupala et al, 2006).
The mycobacterium paratuberculosis transporter gene cluster (mpt) is a promising candidate as it is predicted to encode two putative transporters (mptABC and mptDEF) involved in metal transport [ 32, 33].
Recently, we suggested that, similar to PPIF, the c subunit of the FO ATP synthase constitutes a critical component of the mPTP and that it is required for the MPT, mitochondrial fragmentation and cell death induced by oxidative stress or mitochondrial Ca2+ overload [37].
To our knowledge, the expression level of amh has been investigated in only one fish species with TSD, i.e. pejerrey (O. bonariensis) [ 76], in which it is much higher at MPT than at FTP and increases dramatically during gonad differentiation.
It should be noted that the MPT effect became more pronounced with increase of carbon content in the steels.
So, it is expected that surface activation after MPT will intensify the corrosion processes.
Besides, it should be taken into consideration that MPT of metal with higher carbon content (steel 45) increases the quantity of retained austenite and this can have the influence on corrosion processes of the metal too.
It should be noted that formed during MPT oxides FeO and Fe3O4, being secondary structures could also decrease wear by the way of relieve running-in of the friction pairs [16].
