Authors of previous research have investigated the effectiveness of dynamic upward and downward vibrotactile moving cues presented by the sequential activation of three tactors aligned along the driver's midline (Ho et al., 2014).
While static cues (e.g., color) have a very limited ability to separate motor memories [ 12, 13], dynamic moving cues [ 13, 26], different concurrent motion of the other arm [ 27 29], or the lead-in to a movement [ 8, 30] often have a substantial effect.
An alternative second possible resolution suggests that while MT/V5's role is processing the basic building blocks of motion stimuli, right ventral cortex spatially integrates basic motion cues into holistic moving percepts such as surfaces or objects.
Once task-related neurons were isolated (see Data Analysis), we determined preferred directions for their responses by moving cue 1 along different directions.
