Old mouse weights were essentially constant during the time period of heavy labeling and young mouse weights varied by less than 1% per week (Fig. S3), suggesting a condition of steady state where protein synthesis and degradation rates would be approximately equal.
The monitoring of mouse body weights during the sunitinib administration phases revealed no significant variation by comparison to control groups, which suggests that the drug, when administered at 40 mg/kg per os, had acceptable toxicity on this model.
The kinase inhibitors were well tolerated, and no changes on overall mouse weight or health were detected during the treatment.

Comparison of mice weights revealed that while weight increased dramatically in both saline and unconjugated Ab treatment groups as a result of rapid tumour growth, immunoconjugate treated mice underwent weight loss during the first 2 weeks following total eradication of the tumours.
Possible reasons for the non-reproducibility of vom Saal's study are the small numbers of only seven mice per dose groups and the lack of control of the confounding effect of dominant versus subservient mice on prostate weights during group housing (Table 2, criticism 2).
Furthermore, there was no change in athymic mice body weight during the experiment (the mean body weight at start was 21.14±1.32 g, 21.50±0.98 g and 21.71±1.16 g in the control group, 50.0 mg/kg and 100.0 mg/kg group, and at end was 25.51±2.95 g, 25.02±3.26 g and 25.92 ±4.65 g, respectively), which suggested that the dose of HMQ18 22 did not have a toxic effect on athymic mice.
These changes reflect what we modeled to be a reduction in weights at the GC to PC synapse, bringing them closer to a lower bound and giving PCs in mutant mice less room to adjust their weights during learning.
In addition, whole mouse body weights were measured during the period of the experiments, and no differences and no losses of body weight between the control groups and the treatment groups were observed, indicating that the tPDT procedure under the studied conditions was not toxic to mice.
