The results identified 178 genes, representing 31.8% of genes identified in Pax6 heterozygous lens, similarly deregulated in various compartments of the mouse telencephalon.

In this work, MCH distribution was carefully analyzed in the mouse telencephalon and hypothalamus, and compared to rat MCH neuron distribution.
Of these, 178 (31.8%) were similarly increased and decreased in Pax6 homozygous embryonic telencephalon [Holm PC, Mader MT, Haubst N, Wizenmann A, Sigvardsson M, Götz M (2007) Loss- and gain-of-function analyses reveals targets of Pax6 in the developing mouse telencephalon. Mol Cell Neurosci 34: 99–119].
Although Prdm3 is not expressed in developing mouse telencephalon ([23] and data not shown), it is expressed in embryonic and adult haemopoietic progenitors in which it regulates proliferation [53].
In addition, expression of nine genes (Rdm1, Melk, Ctsh, Crlf3, Bdh, Gaa, Pygl, Celsr1 and Camk1d; see Fig. 4) was changed in lens and in three regions of the embryonic mouse telencephalon (Fig. 4).
NSCs were prepared from embryonic day 17.5 PromouseZ,Dtelencephalonmouse telencephandn and cultured in DMEM/F12 (Gibco, BRL) supplemented with chemicals, bFGF (10 ng/ml), and EGF (10 ng/ml) (NSC medium), as described previously [31].
