At the design time of the microarray, there were 576 human miRNAs, 238 rat miRNAs and 358 mouse miRNAs reported.
There were 855 mouse miRNAs reported in version 20, but this number has significantly increased to 1193 miRNAs in version 21.

Interestingly, a recent report shows that in mouse, miRNAs regulate cell development through target sites in CDS regions [28].
Although the results reported below focus on results with 313 human miRNAs, very similar results were also obtained for 233 mouse miRNAs and are presented in the Supplementary Material S1.
