Based on GIS estimations of land cover change for the 1990 2006 period and regression analysis of socio-economic attributes for 417 mountain municipalities in Provence-Alps-Côte d'Azur in Southern France, our research shows that high altitude grasslands are less likely to be abandoned than those located in lower altitude areas.
Testing installations of SIRENE have been deployed in 18 hilly or mountain municipalities (12 located in the Italian Central Alps of northern Italy, and six in the Umbria region of central Italy), which have been affected by natural hazard-induced disasters over the past years (landslides, debris flows, floods, and wildfire) and experienced significant social and economic losses.
Fourteen patients residing in 32 sparsely populated mountain municipalities were excluded from the analysis because of difficulties related to exposure assessment (see following section).
Subjects residing in the mountain municipalities located in the southern part of the two provinces were excluded from the population databases before carrying out the sampling procedure.
This enabled us to identify areas where local PM10 exposure spread its impact throughout the region (Milan and its hinterland, and other main cities in the basin of the Po River) and municipalities whose residents were primarily impacted by exposure to PM10 in the other areas where they worked or attended school (the mountain municipalities).
With no tax base, Jumbo Glacier Mountain Resort Municipality relies on provincial government funds to cover its modest day-to-day costs.
Nevertheless the project stumbled through 24 years of public consultation, lobbying, legal suits, funding troubles, and permit extensions, until the province passed new legislation allowing Jumbo to incorporate as a resident-free "mountain resort municipality" in 2012.
Polymorphisms of these 21 cpSSRs were assessed using 39 accessions from four populations, i.e., Jinfo Mountain, Chongqing Municipality (JF); Wuchuan, Guizhou Province (WC); Enshi, Hubei Province (ES); and Tianmu Mountain, Zhejiang Province (TM) (Appendix 1).
With respect to the question asking "which route people would follow after receiving an alert", 60% of them answered they would go west using the main road, 22% of them would "go up into the mountains" surrounding the municipality (Fig. 4, Fig. 11) - even if there was enough time to evacuate - and 14% would go to the south using the coastal road.
