Stage transition was supported by using behavioural change techniques to influence motivation (motivational interviewing, decisional balance), action (goal setting, action planning, barrier identification) and maintenance (relapse prevention) [ 21, 22].
Motivation to change can be improved by sharing treatment plans with patients [ 41] and can be assessed with the Motivational Interview [ 93], the Readiness and Motivation Interview [ 43, 44], or the Anorexia Nervosa Stages of Change Questionnaire [ 55].
Data sources included student self-reported reading motivation surveys, a standardized reading comprehension assessment, and a random sample of 44 1-on-1 student reading motivation interviews.
