By testing combinations of the most variable elements, within the set of 24 loci, we found that a satisfactory degree of discrimination could be achieved using a minimal group of six loci; however, we recommend extending the set of markers to include MIRU 39 (7- locus MIRU-VNTR panel), since it is possible to observe some tendency to clustering, according to the geographical region of origin.
