A further piece of evidence in support of Hypothesis 1 was that from the top 50 transcripts that were most stable across all conditions in Figure 1, all of them were found to have a considerable variability of expression in at least five distinct tissue types from a set of 186 tissues available in Genevestigator (see Additional file 3).
