From eudicots, most of the sequences from A. thaliana, M. truncatula and F. vesca were found in separated groups, suggesting species-specific (or clade-specific) proliferations.
AtraPBP1 and AtraPBP2 belong to two separated groups, with the protein enriched in male antennae, AtraPBP1, clustering with some of the most well-characterized insect PBPs like BmorPBP1 [4], [6], [7], [8], [9], [35] [36], [36] and ApolPBP1 [38], [39], [40], [40].
We found that the CSEP families form two clearly separated groups: one group contains shorter proteins with a preference for haustorial expression and with most families showing strong evidence of positive diversifying selection.
For all the pairs of the separated groups, we computed the average likelihoods before/after integration and check whether the separated groups should be integrated or not.
