Despite odds weighted so heavily in Internet Explorer's favor -- most other browsers must be actively sought out and downloaded -- the profile of those who have recently switched suggests the desire for alternative browsers is growing.
Instead, it collects your open tabs in the menu bar, the outermost pane of the browser window (most other browsers use this space to display the title of your current Web page).
But Mr. Andreessen suggested the new browser would be different, saying that most other browsers had not kept pace with the evolution of the Web, which had grown from an array of static Web pages into a network of complex Web sites and applications.
At the same time, though, it keeps the separate search form — something most other browsers have now done away with.
The team also completely redesigned the menu too, and added a large number of customization options that aren't available in most other browsers.
"This means that, unlike in most other browsers, you can more easily browse and search the web when on the move".
Besides the latest version of Chrome, the Starter Kit also supports most other modern browsers, including IE10 and 11, Firefox 30 and 31, as well as most popular mobile browsers.
Most other Internet browsers also keep their settings for languages and character sets under the View menu.
