Most observed geographic differences probably result from environmental or cultural influences rather than from differences in the genetic makeup of separate populations.
The most striking observed difference between the two strains, however, was the high degree of heterozygosity found in MCO456 with a total of 2,182 kb heterozygous sites, representing 17% of the genome, when compared with the very low fraction of heterozygous sites in 90-125 (12.6 kb, 0.1%).
In Veronica, Scrophularia and Verbascum, most of the observed differences in genome size were related to different chromosome numbers.
However, when data are sampled at the population level, as is most likely the case here, it is possible that most of the observed differences do in fact represent segregating polymorphisms.
Most importantly, the observed differences in the precision of homeostatic regulation at different spatial scales suggest that population firing homeostasis is more than a sum of single-neuron adaptive responses, implying the existence of network-wide regulation rules (Maffei and Fontanini, 2009).
The results of both MNL exercises indicate that most of the observed differences in migrant locations reflect differences in MNL coefficients rather than differences in characteristics.
Further, when the significance of results was re-computed using a Bonferroni correction for multiple comparisons, most of the observed differences remained significant.
Most of the observed differences in faunal composition seems to be attributed to rainfall seasonality, with samples taken during the dry season (regardless of their site of origin) being located at the left side of the ordination plot whereas those taken during the wet season were located at the right side (Fig. 3a).
However, more likely most of these observed differences may be attributable to the methods used to measure these health states.
