Actively choosing the genes for knock-out experiments allows optimal perturbation of the pathway and therefore produces the most informative DNA microarray data for pathway identification purposes.
When serial samples were analysed, we detected 11 cases 1.2 years before time of diagnosis with the ELISA assay compared, whereas this was extended to 1.4 years before diagnosis using the most informative p53 peptides on the microarray.
