As expected, duration of follow-up was a prominent component with 10 years being the most frequent threshold (Supplementary Table 10).
Time to end-point was a prominent component of definitions, with 92% of definitions including a duration component, the most frequent threshold being 3 years (Fig. 5, Supplementary Table 11).
The most frequent CD4+ cell threshold was 500 cells/μl (Fig. 4, Supplementary Table 10).
The most frequent HIV-RNA threshold used was 50 copies/ml.
The lowest (rightmost) threshold was defined with 2 at the rightmost position next to 5 (2|5; −2.473), the second lowest (5|3; −1.833), and the third threshold for the most frequent aberrant bristle class (3) was adjacent to normal (3|4; −1.435).
Duration thresholds varied from 6 months to 16 years, with a threshold of 1 year being most frequent (Supplementary Table 10).
If the frequency of the most frequent nucleotide at a given position exceeds a threshold (typically around 80%), bulk sequencing returns the predominant nucleotide at this position.
