Clinical Global Impressions-Severity (CGI-S) [ 24], a clinician-rated scale ranging from 1 (not at all ill) to 7 (among the most extremely ill), was used to rate the severity of overall mental illness at the time of study entry.
Specifically, it was hypothesized that patients rated by clinicians as normal, borderline, or mildly ill would have lower GRCD scores compared with patients rated as moderately, markedly, severely, or among the most extremely ill patients.
The study physicians assigned each subject a Clinician Global Impression of Severity (CGIS [12]) score of 1 = "normal, not at all ill," 2 = "borderline ill," 3 = "mildly ill," 4 = "moderately ill," 5 = "markedly ill," 6 = "severely ill," or 7 = "among the most extremely ill patients".
