Surveys unanimously reveal that US studies of the abdomen in adults are the most common investigation performed within radiology throughout the world.
With regard to handling PhD and radiology training, the most common response was that a PhD is allowed in parallel to radiology training (38.9 %), should be completed partly (15.3 %) and must be completed first (8.3 %).
Currently, radiology and histology are the most common procedures to study failed bone implants and some authors have used these techniques to evaluate bone necrosis and fracture risk [ 6, 10, 15- 18].
Most common were medication-related, followed by laboratory-related, radiology-related and process-related IRs.
Paediatric examinations are the second most common studies performed by radiologists in the USA; outside of radiology, cardiac examinations are by far the most common US investigations in this country.
Medical exams prior to radiology were less common (39/141, 28%).
Many trainees received no career advice specific to radiology (69/163, 42%); for those who did, informal discussions were most common (69/163, 42%) while formal advice and departmental open days were rare (13/163, 8% and 12/163, 7%, respectively).
Most trainees performed radiology based research or audit prior to applying (131/163, 80%); audit was most common (103/163, 63%).
The most common definition was report TAT, which was measured from the X-ray completion until the availability of the radiology report in the HIS (10 articles).
Of these findings, pulmonary nodules were the most common incidental finding (24.2% of all findings), and 41.3% of them requiring further follow-up imaging per radiology recommendation.
