To identify if there was any temporal variation in mortality, influenza fatality rates and case-fatality ratios were calculated for two separate time periods that corresponded to two waves of 2009 H1N1 activity: April 3-October 3, 2009, and October 4, 2009-February 4, 2010 (Figure 1).
