Because of the diversity of akodontine rodents, precise diagnosis, based solely on morphometric characteristics, is not always possible.
Morphometric characteristics were used to separate ALDs into two forms, elongate and compact, with accuracies assessed for each.
These three different aspects of morphometric characteristics were calculated by the following formula (Table 1).
