This is demonstrated in Figure 8, which plots, for a series of embryos ordered by age, the appearance of morphological segments (in blue), the activation of eve1 in segmental intercalated stripes that presage the appearance of the odd numbered LBS (in red) and the first appearance of the double segment "primary stripes" that will resolve to define the even numbered LBS (in yellow).
