As in other filamentous fungi, the conidial germination process in T. rubrum can be divided into three steps: (1) an activation step triggered by environmental factors; (2) an isotropic growth phase representing the first morphological event, referred to as swelling; and (3) a polarized growth phase.

Among the key morphological events that occur during metaphase is redistribution of actin to the intercap zone in prophase for driving metaphase furrow formation around dividing nuclei (Miller et al., 1985).
The work is technically sound and the results are truly unexpected: The different morphological events of the embryogenesis are not affected by oxygen levels to a similar extent, but rather, each morphological event responds to such variations in an unequal manner.
