The histopathology after this acute phase shows a relatively mild picture, although specific muscles (e.g. diaphragm) and older mice can show more severe pathology consistent with human DMD muscle at presentation (failed regeneration and fibrosis).
More severe symptoms consistent with central nervous system dysfunction such as seizures, central pontine myelinolysis, coma and death are rare[ 7].
